What automated validation actually looks like

The workflow, end to end

You upload the trainer and assessor guide, the assessment instructions, the marking guide and the instrument, and enter the unit code. The system pulls the authoritative unit of competency, then maps evidence to every element, performance criterion, foundation skill and assessment condition — with citations both ways.

What comes back is not a score. It is a mapping table, a coverage figure per instrument, a list of gaps ranked by severity, and draft recommendations your panel can accept, amend or reject.

What an auditor sees

A validation record with dates, participants, the version of the unit used, the findings, the judgements against each finding, the rectification actions and their status — plus a citation trail from every finding back to the source document. In practice that is a stronger trail than a manually maintained mapping spreadsheet, because nothing depends on somebody remembering to update it.

WORKED EXAMPLE

In one review, an automated mapping flagged that the marking guide held no benchmark answers for three performance criteria and that a foundation skill was never assessed. Both had been carried in a signed mapping document for two years. The panel accepted the findings in twenty minutes and rectified before the next cohort was assessed.
